The Way I See It #220
I’m tired and I don’t want to write so…I found this on the back of a Starbucks Cup.
Evolution as described by Charles Darwin is a scienctific theory, abundantly reconfirmed, explaining physcial phenomena by physical causes. Intelligent Design is a faith-based initiative in rhetorical argument. Should we teach I.D. in America’s public schools? Yes, let’s do-not as science, but alongside other spiritual beliefs, such as Islam, Zoroastrianism and the Hindu idea the Earth rests on Chukwa, the giant turtle.

I have never seen the conflict in evolution or Biblical-based creation. Whether God created the world in 6 24-hour days or millenium is not the issue to me. The issue is that someone or something (I believe it was God), had to start the ball rolling to make it happen. When God is so great (way beyond anything we can even imagine), why do we continually try to narrow God down to what we can understand. If we understand God, then what/where is the mystery? If time has no meaning to God, as Scripture states, then why do we continually stick to the 24-hour day idea of creation? God could have created the world in a nano-second or a millenium. What does that matter as long as God did the creating? Bringing God down to our understanding is depressing. Where would the wonder and awe be if God was totally understandable. What would be the point in continually seeking and trying to understand and learn about God if anyone can figure God out. Does this make sense?
Wow Kim–Kudos to you! Good response!
Thank you, Christi. I’ve felt this way for a long time.
